GENERAL

Beachside Holiday Park is situated on Breansands, a six mile stretch of sand dunes and firm sand which is the second longest stretch of sand in Europe.

We are 4 miles from the small sea side town of Burnham on Sea. The promenade in Burnham on Sea is flat and car parks and roadside parking have disabled parking spaces. Information on Beachside can be found on this web site or within the Beachside brochure, available on request Beachside has a reasonable level access to reception with a 7.5 cm threshold and a door width of 78 cms. from which there is a 1:8 slope to the rest of the park which has level access to most caravans and where necessary ramps to raised areas.

The roads also act as pathways and are easily seen or tappable by the partially sighted. There is good mobile telephone reception in our area and there is a public telephone available in the Sundowner cafe bar during opening hours.

ROADS

Roads throughout Beachside are limited to 8mph, and we operate a one way system . Speed bumps are present but are lowered at the sides to allow wheelchairs and mobility aids easier access through the bumps.

HOLIDAY HOMES

Beachside has a rental fleet of 35 Holiday Homes. One Holiday Home is specially adapted to suit wheelchair users and guests who have mobility difficulties. Car Parking is adjacent to the caravan.

There is a wheelchair ramp to the lounge door and a 1 x 25 cm. step to the rear door. 

The lounge door space opens up to 1.15 mts.  All internal door widths are 74cms and are sliding.

Bathroom/Toilet. The entry level to the shower is 7.5 cms. There is a non slip mat and seat, but no handrails. The toilet height is 46 cms and there are handrails. The wash basin height is 82cms and there is a handrail.

The Master Bed height is 48cms. The bed to wall measurement is 1.42mts. There is an adjustable grab handle over the bed attached to the ceiling. The kitchen sink height is 71 cms and there is a knee hole. The lounge seating height is 43 cms. The dining area seating height is 41 cms with a free standing table. The Bedrooms are carpeted and the lounge, kitchen, bathroom and passage are  laid with vinyl. Other caravans on average are accessed by either 2, 3 or 4 steps with a height of 20cms  from the top step to the threshold and an average rise of 18cms and are 71cms wide. All caravans have handrails fitted to steps. Internal doors being an average of 51 cms and will not service a wheelchair.

All our caravans are fitted with Freeview digital boxes to enable guests with impaired hearing to access subtitles

STAFF

Beachside Staff have attended the Welcome All course in accessibility awareness and have been given specific training by Beachside Holiday Park.

Beachside Staff are available from 8.30a.m. to 6.00p.m., to provide any support. For emergencies outside these hours, the on duty member of staff may be contacted by telephone. Would Guests kindly inform Reception where a disabled person is present in their party. We may then discuss any special actions that may be necessary in an emergency and request contact numbers of relatives that may be communicated with. All information will be treated in confidence.

ASSISTANCE DOGS

We welcome all well behaved dogs and there is no charge for assistance dogs. All dogs must be kept on a lead whilst on the Holiday Park but may exercised freely on the beach at all times of the year.

Telephone numbers for Doctors, Dentists & Hospitals will be found in the Blue Information Folders which you will find in each caravan.
