ðū Top 5 Dog-Friendly Walks Around Brean
At Beachside Holiday Park, we know how important it is to bring the whole family on holiday — and that includes your four-legged friends! Luckily, Brean and the surrounding area offer a fantastic variety of dog-friendly walks, from sandy beaches to countryside trails.
Here are our top 5 local dog walks to enjoy during your stay.
1. Brean Beach (Right on Your Doorstep)
ð Distance: As long or short as you like
ðķ Lead Policy: Off-lead allowed (but watch for horses/riders)
â Nearby café: The Sundowner (dog-friendly outside seating)
Brean Beach is one of the longest sandy beaches in Europe and dogs are welcome all year round. Whether it’s a quick early morning stroll or a sunset wander, you can walk for miles in either direction. Just remember to check tide times before heading out!
2. Brean Down & Fort
ð Distance: 3 miles (return)
ðķ Lead Policy: Lead advised due to cliff edges & livestock
ð
ŋïļ Parking: National Trust car park (charges apply)
One of the most scenic spots in the area, Brean Down offers panoramic coastal views, historic fort ruins, and lots of sniff-worthy paths for your pup. It’s a bit of a climb to the top, but the views are worth it. Just keep dogs on a lead near the cliffs and grazing animals.
3. Berrow Beach to Burnham-on-Sea
ð Distance: Up to 3.5 miles (one way)
ðķ Lead Policy: Off-lead permitted
ð· Highlight: Shipwreck remains visible at low tide
This walk gives you and your dog the freedom to explore a quieter stretch of coast, and if you fancy a longer outing, walk all the way to Burnham and back. Berrow Beach is just a short drive or a long walk from Beachside, and it’s generally quieter than central Brean.
4. Brent Knoll Circular Walk
ð Distance: 3 miles (loop)
ðķ Lead Policy: On-lead near livestock
ðĨū Terrain: Country lanes, stiles, and steady inclines
A bit further afield (10-minute drive), this hill walk is ideal for active dogs and humans. The views from the top stretch across the Somerset Levels to the coast. Bring water — it’s exposed at the top!
5. River Axe & Countryside Footpaths (behind the park)
ð Distance: Varies (network of footpaths)
ðķ Lead Policy: Generally off-lead, but watch for livestock
ðŋ Type: Flat, peaceful countryside paths and meadows
Directly accessible from the back of Beachside, these lesser-known trails are perfect for a quiet stroll. You’ll see farmland, ditches, and plenty of wildlife — a calm alternative to the beach.
